When Hell Freezes Over Short Film - 2025

When Hell Freezes Over follows Louise and Ada, who have been searching for a place to live for months without success. With nowhere else to turn, they reach for their absolute last resort: a convent. What they expect to be immediate shelter becomes a “trial period,” where they follow the convent’s routines while still having to fend for themselves outside its walls. As the days go by, small details start to feel off, and the promise of refuge begins to shift into something far more unsettling.

As Director of Photography, I used symmetry and composition as narrative tools: the deeper Louise and Ada get into the convent, the more the framing draws them toward the center, as if the place is quietly absorbing them. Around that, I built a dense, darker atmosphere where shadow always feels close, so the world never fully reads as safe. At the same time, the images keep a sense of everyday normality, natural light and moments of softness, so there’s a constant contrast between what looks calm on the surface and what’s building underneath.
