Zweit Zeugin (Second Witness) - Short Film - 2026

Zweit Zeugin (Second Witness) is a short film that looks at how Holocaust memories are passed on today. Through the autofictional perspective of Lena, a young German woman, the film follows her encounters with survivor Sara Bialas and the questions that come up around listening, guilt, and how stories continue to live on. Told through fragments, quiet moments, and observation, the film focuses on listening as a deeply active and human act.

As Director of Photography and Colorist, we framed the film in 4:3 to stay close to Lena and compress space around her, keeping the image centered on her perspective. The film remains in color, using natural light in intimate, contained spaces to ground everything in the present day. A mostly fixed camera supports an observational tone and leaves room for listening and for Lena’s inner life to register in the frame.
